DEVOTION FOR OUR NATION

Hi and welcome to this part of our 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting.

My name is Toba Oluwaponmile, and I am the African Connect Pastor here at Audacious Church Manchester Central.

During these 21 days as we trust God for Audacious things, today we are looking at praying for our Nation.

Around the mid 16th century there was a popular statement by the Queen of the Scots who feared the prayer of a man more than all the assembled armies of Europe. The name of this man was John Knox. His fervent prayers and dedication were seen as a significant force during a time of great religious and political trouble, turbulence and turmoil.

My anchor scripture today will be

Psalms 122:6-7 NIV

[6] Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. [7] May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.”

In line with this scripture our Jerusalem is where we dwell now – The United Kingdom

Here we see an EXPECTATION which is we are commanded & expected to Pray as this will signify the outward expression of our Love for our Nation. We know that God is love and loving is God.

Secondly, the OUTCOME OF THIS EXPECTATION is Those who love their nation will be secure, they will live in Peace and security.

If you permit me to single out that word PEACE which is SHALOM SHALOM. Meaning completeness in number,Peace from War, Sound Health, Prosperity, Tranquility and welfare.

This is of no doubt the practical outcome of the prayers of those who Love their Nation.

“I am thrilled because we have the assurance that when we ask in the Name of Jesus, as promised in John 14:14, God will fulfill our requests.”

Let’s pray.

Father, we ask in the Name of your Son, Jesus Christ over the United Kingdom – England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We speak Peace, completeness, Health, Prosperity, Wellbeing and Tranquility in every sector In Jesus Name.

Have a great Day

Toba
